Food

Image
I was a bit anxious to try Spanish food when I first got here so I stuck with food that I knew I liked.  A few days later I decided to try some Tapas. I tried a dish called “patatas bravis”. They are chips covered in a spicy sauce. It’s delicious and I’ve had a good few of these to date.  I also tried other types of tapas which include meatballs in a tomato sauce, ham and cheese croquettes and a long chicken skewer. I haven’t tried any of the fish tapas as I don’t like seafood. I tried this dish called a “flamenca” it is bacon wrapped in pork in breadcrumbs. I think everyone should try this dish at least once when they come to Spain. I like the idea of tapas as it’s small portions of food and if you don’t like one dish you have another one to try.  I’m looking forward to trying more types of Spanish food before I go home

Activities

We have been so lucky with the weather so far. I have been to the beach so many times. It’s a 15-20 minute walk from my apartment. We got to do some beach sports yesterday and I played frisbee. We also went to a flamenco show which is great as we get to see some Spanish culture and heritage. On one of the days, I also got the chance to walk up the “Alcazaba”. This was an amazing walk with spectacular views the whole way along. On Sunday, I met up with my friend who I haven’t seen in over a year. We went on a walk up the fabulous “Gibralfaro”. It was a steep walk but well worth the views. I also got to chance to visit the city of Córdoba. We got brought on a guided walking tou r of the city and got to learn all about their history.

My Work Placment

I am working in a place called “Let Malaga” I am already in my second week of work here. Let Malaga are a letting agency that allows guests to book apartments in Malaga. They own lots of apartments all over the city.  I have learned many things here. I have learned how to send check in messages to clients through English and Spanish. This is sent through booking.com, air B and B and outlook. I’ve also learned how to send a check out message. We have to send this the day before so guests will know what to do upon check out day. I’ve also replied back to reviews on booking.com. I printed out all bookings for the month on February and had to check for 3 key things: the client has payed, the client had given their security deposit and that the client has given their passport details. If they haven’t I then need to send them a follow up email both in English and Spanish asking them to fill out the key areas. Luckily, I’ve had the chance to visit apartments to give guests things that ma...

My Accomodation

When I got into Malaga city, I got a taxi with my house mate, Millie. We are close to everything, just a short 5 minute walk to the heart of the city.  The apartment is situated on the third floor but it has no lift so there’s a lot of stairs to get up!  it’s a beautiful two bedroom apartment which overlooks restaurants. It has a sitting room, kitchen and bathroom. It looks like it recently got refurbished. You couldn’t really ask for a better apartment to stay in for the next 3 weeks!!

How I prepared for this mobility

Before I left Ireland, I made sure I was as up to date as I could possibly be with my assignments. I did this so I would have more time to explore Malaga. This will definitely pay off.  I did a little bit of shopping beforehand to get the essentials before I left. I also got my hair and nails done. I started packing the day before hand and got some rest as we needed to be in the airport for 4 am.

A little bit about myself

A little bit about me: I’m a very fun and outgoing person. I love a challenge. Once I’m finished my studies I’d ideally like to travel the world 🌍 this Erasmus program will give me an amazing opportunity to see what it is like to travel and live independently. I’m very excited for it to begin #malaga #erasmusplus
